Equipment

  • 1 Glass jar or shaker bottle (16–20 oz)
  • 1 Kettle or saucepan (for hot water)
  • 1 Fine mesh strainer or tea infuser (for butterfly pea flower)
  • 1 Measuring spoons set
  • 1 Stirring Spoon

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup hot water not boiling – about 80°C / 176°F
  • 1 tbsp dried butterfly pea flowers or 1 butterfly pea tea bag
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar with the mother
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice or lime juice for variation
  • tsp cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon optional
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger or ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup optional, for sweetness
  • ½ cup cold water or ice cubes for dilution after infusion

Instructions
 

  • Steep the butterfly pea flower:
  • Add the dried butterfly pea flowers to a cup of hot water. Let it steep for 5–7 minutes until the water turns a deep blue. Strain and set aside to cool slightly.
  • Mix the elixir base:
  • In a large glass or shaker bottle, add the apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, cayenne, cinnamon, ginger, and honey (if using).
  • Combine:
  • Pour the steeped butterfly pea tea into the vinegar mixture. Add ½ cup of cold water or a few ice cubes to balance the temperature.
  • Stir well or shake:
  • Mix thoroughly until everything is combined and smooth.
  • Serve and sip:
  • Drink immediately for maximum potency, preferably on an empty stomach in the morning.

Notes

  • For added sparkle, use chilled sparkling mineral water instead of cold water.
  • Make it vegan by skipping honey or using maple syrup/agave.
  • Spice it up by adding a pinch of turmeric or black pepper.
  • For convenience, pre-mix dry ingredients and store in a jar; just add liquids when ready.
